A deceased friend of ours named John "Griff" Wood asked for our help with his health problems before his death, so we put together the medical report that follows. He was unhappy with his doctors, who seemed incompetent at best, and he was looking for answers. Unfortunately, when the time came to make a leap of faith, Griff chose to believe his doctors over us. He was dead within weeks.
Of course, the history was written that it was the cancer that killed him -- not the treatments. It is the way that history is always written, despite the fact that patients with no treatments whatsoever live longer, and live better than those 'treated' by the establishment.
The proponents of allopathic medicine love to mock alternative methodologies with the phrase 'real medicine', whilst implying that only they practice valid medicine. So that prompts the question: what exactly is real medicine? The answer depends on who you ask; even amongst doctors. If you were to ask a doctor who practiced medicine before the 1930's, then you would get a completely different answer than you would get from a modern doctor, and the reason is not what you are expecting.
A doctor who practiced medicine in the early part of the 20th century would find much agreement in what we, and various alternative practitioners are teaching people. In fact, if you were to read the pharmacopeias (a.k.a. "The Physician's Manual") from that era, then you would quickly notice that many of the mainstream "drugs" from that era are the same herbs that alternative medicine now recommend. Reference the Pharmacopeia of 1909 to see for yourself. You will also find a few things that alternative medicine practitioners were aghast about, including the use of toxic heavy metals in medicines, such as aluminum and mercury. Some things never change.
This was before the Dark Age of medicine came -- before the F.D.A., and before Rockefeller's influence, and it has everything to do with the New World Order that we are seeing unfold before our eyes. To the banking elites, like Rockefeller, the Great Depression was the great opportunity for the social re-engineering of America, and medicine was to become one of the pillars of this new order. (The Federal Reserve was another pillar.)
Most medical schools of the time were teetering on bankruptcy. They were saved by Rockefeller's money, but of course, that money came with conditions. It required making a deal with the Devil, and the results were truly evil. All treatments were to henceforth be chemicals, and sold as pharmaceuticals, which institutionally banned all natural (safe) substances from the realm of medicine. Natural substances cannot be patented, and more importantly, they cannot not be regulated (controlled). The new paradigm was all about control and power. Natural treatments would be relegated as "unscientific", and the data for natural substances would be eliminated from all medical libraries. Schools and doctors teaching traditional medicines would be demonized. Traditional medicine would be renamed to 'alternative medicine' and experimental chemical medicines would be redefined as 'conventional medicine'. Diseases would no longer be cured, but instead, symptoms would be 'treated' perpetually, as the underlying conditions worsened as a result. This was actually the plan -- to create a perpetual dependence on a disease industry that they could monopolize.
I am reminded of an episode of Scrubs in which a doctor mocked a patient who wished to try alternative therapies. The doctor told him that he needed "real medicine". The real medicine of today consists of chemical warfare intended to merely suppress symptoms. Never mind that many of the pharmaceuticals comprising "real medicine" are derived from the same herbs that were used as medicines a century ago -- the one's that are ironically not considered "real medicine" anymore. Only the "real medicines" (pharmaceuticals) have horrible side-effects and create dependencies.
Are you still donating money to "real medicine" to find that supposedly elusive cancer cure that had been known about since the1930's? They have been meticulous in rewriting the history of medicine, and more importantly, the history of "real medicine". However, the real history is still there to be rediscovered. We recommend starting with the old pharmacopoeias, which are remarkably damning.
In the following report, we attempted to advise Griff Wood about how he could have helped himself, in much the same way that any country doctor would have done in the early part of the twentieth century -- before the Dark Age of the F.D.A.. If you are an astute reader, you may notice that Griff had a life-long pattern of disease caused mainly by his medical 'treatments' for previous diseases. He was worked and controlled by the system for most of his life, and it eventually killed him.
We believe it all began with the steroids given to him for asthma, which began his demise decades prior, and culminated in his fatal cancer 'treatments' at the end. It is almost certain that they caused the asthma as well, through vaccines and antibiotics given to him many years prior. Like cancer, and the other conditions which afflicted Griff, asthma too is usually man-made. It's made by "real medicine".
Medical Research Report for Griff Wood
Summary
We believe after a careful analysis of the information we possess concerning your health, that you have a typically chronic set of serious health illnesses which are reversible without the intervention of drastic measures. Nevertheless, it is absolutely critical that changes be made to your lifestyle to avert disaster. While we cannot cure you (nor can any doctor for that matter), we can give you suggestions about how to make the burden easier upon your body, so that it can begin healing itself. The development of these interlinked disorders likely took many years to materialize.
We believe it happened in these stages:
- Stage 1 - Adrenal Disease (Adrenal Fatigue, or Hypoadrenia)
Adrenal system deterioration likely from various stresses, heavy metal poisoning (ie. mercury from fish), age, alcohol consumption, steroids (ie. asthma), aspartame poisoning (Coke-a-Cola), and poor diet.
- Stage 2 - Cushing's Syndrome
Cushing's disease is the overproduction of cortisol by the adrenal glands caused by untreated Adrenal Disease. Cushing's Syndrome is a constellation of signs and symptoms due to chronic overexposure to adrenal corticosteroids. Symptoms may include central obesity, wasting of the arms and legs (thin extremities), a reddish moon face, buffalo hump, a protuberant abdomen, and pigmented stretch marks (striae). Many people experience severe fatigue, weak muscles, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar. Irritability, anxiety, and depression are also common. It is a slowly developing degenerative condition in some ways similar to diabetes, but it usually progresses unnoticed in about 99% of cases. In fact, it has been ignored since the 1930's by Western medicine.
- Stage 3 - Prostate Disease
This is an inflammation and enlargement of the prostate which causes a variety of dysfunctional hormone reactions: making the body susceptible to various other illnesses. Possibly the development of prostatic cysts and abscesses, which can eventually become cancerous.
- Stage 4 - Dysfunctional Immune System
Little needs to be said about the obvious implications of this. There is a tendency to be susceptible to all illnesses and diseases, including heart problems, and cancers. The build up of toxins and the free reign of internal bacteria likely led to the bladder cyst. The introduction of chemical antibodies may provide temporary relief of the current symptoms, but can cause more damage in the long term as they stress an already weakened immune system, and kill the beneficial bacteria.
- Stage 5 - Acidosis and Cancer
Herbal Treatment Recommendations
Note: We recommend that all herbal items be purchased from a herbal retailer or health food store, because such products in generic retailers tend to be of poor quality. We will be sending DHEA because it is outlawed for sale in England.
• Vitamin B's (especially B5)
Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) activates the adrenal glands. It is a precursor of acetyl CoA (a part of the Krebs's cycle which produces cellular energy) and acetylcholine (a primary neurotransmitter). Pantothenic acid deficiency results in adrenal insufficiency, which is characterized by fatigue, headache, sleep disturbances, nausea, and abdominal discomfort.
• DHEA
DHEA may help to protect against the overproduction of cortisol from the adrenal glands and enhance the immune system. This is an important factor since too much cortisol accelerates aging and causes immune system disorders. Studies show that DHEA deficiency may actually debilitate immune status.
• Licorice
Licorice is also a demulcent (an oily substance that reduces irritation), which makes it soothing to the digestive tract. Deglycyrrhized licorice (DGL) is made by removing the glycyrrhizin. For the adrenal effects, only real licorice should be used, not DGL. Long-term use of licorice containing more than 1 gram of glycyrrhizin (the amount in approximately 10 grams of licorice root) daily can cause increased blood pressure and water retention (edema) (Schambelan 1994). High doses of licorice should only be taken under the care of a qualified health professional.
• Green Tea (This can be flavored with honey and lemon)
L-theanine is an amino acid found in green tea that produces a calming effect in the brain. It works by increasing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) that is a relaxer and creates a sense of well-being. L-theanine may be taken to help modulate mood and relieve stress in many health conditions.
• Vitamin C
Vitamin C Studies show that vitamin C and aspirin can attenuate and influence cortisol, inducing an anti-inflammatory response to prolonged exercise and stress. Vitamin C has been shown to reduce the elevation of cortisol in response to heavy exercise. In human studies, 3000 mg of vitamin C daily mitigated a rise in blood pressure, cortisol, and subjective response to acute psychological stress.
• Vitamin E
• Phosphatidylserine
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid that is a structural component of the biological membranes in animals and plants. In studies, supplemental "PS" has been shown to improve mood and blunt the release of cortisol in response to physical stress.
• Melatonin
Melatonin is secreted by the pineal gland and functions to regulate circadian rhythm and induce sleep. Melatonin circadian secretion in patients with pituitary- or adrenal-dependent Cushing's Syndrome was shown to be significantly lower compared to healthy control groups. Studies also have shown that nightly administration of 2 mg of melatonin increased the DHEA-S-cortisol ratio after 6 months of treatment
• American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.)
American ginseng has often been used to help boost the immune system, in order to help the body fight diseases. It is purported to regulate the metabolism, as well as improve blood lipid levels. It is commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine in many areas relating to the kidneys.
• Saw Palmetto
Improves hormone levels, and consequently aids erectile dysfunction, and hair loss. It has become an accepted treatment for symptoms associated with benign prostate gland enlargement (called benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH) in many parts of Europe and in New Zealand. In North America, saw palmetto is considered an alternative herbal remedy for BPH.
• Dandelion
That's right, we are indeed talking about the weed. You may be able to purchase a herbal tea already containing it, or dandelion capsules. One can also substitue dried pokeroot, since it is considered especially effective for treating all glandular diseases.
• Garlic
The more garlic in the diet, the better. There are anecdotal cases where people have claimed to have killed cancer by merely eating pure garlic.
• Essaic Tea
This tea contains Sheep Sorrel and Burdock Root
• Cilantro
This is great for a heavy metal detox, along with apples. You will also need magnesium from green leafy vegetables.
• Lysine
This is an essential amino acid. Lysine plays a large role in the bonding of hydrogen in the body, and thereby it strongly enhances the body's ability to utilize oxygen. This is available in pill form from most health food and herbal stores, and can also be found in plentiful amounts through fish.
• Argenine
• Zinc
• Cinnamon
• Aloe Vera
• Ginger
Naturopathic and Holistic Treatment Suggestions
• Flax Seed Oil and Cottage Cheese Combination
This is at the core of "The Budwig (anti-cancer) Diet", and information about it has been suppressed by the establishment, along with several other techniques mentioned. You should use an omega-3 supplement in the form of flax seed oil, and combine it with cottage cheese. Flax seed oil is the safest omega-3 source, and it has no risk of mercury contamination. Flax seed oil combines with the sulfur proteins in cottage cheese to form a new protein. This new protein is poisonous to cancer cells, but harmless otherwise. Use this treatment often: five to six times a day until there is no trace of cancer. The source of the flax seed oil is important, because if not properly protected, then the oil may become rancid, and actually stimulate cancer. The oil should be extracted with a cold pressing technique, and it should be protected from heat and light. I suggest getting it in capsules since they protect each dose, because exposure to air is enough to rapidly make it rancid. The dosage should be a couple of tablespoons combined with twice that amount in cottage cheese. The Budwig Diet is an entire dietary protocol that should be researched and followed religiously. It is not included here for the sake of brevity.
• Heavy Metal Cleanse (colon cleanse)
You are bound to hate this one, but we highly recommend it. Fortunately, with some changes in lifestyle, it needs to be done only once. We do not recommend that you immediately perform a colon cleanse. You should wait until you are feeling strong for several days before even considering it, as the cleanse will be draining on your strength for at least two days. Cleansing kits can be purchased at health food and herbal stores. We recommend that you select a kit for a several-day basic cleanse, instead of the kits which claim a complete cleanse after usage for a month. We just need to give your body a boost, so it can better deal with toxins in the future. Be certain to drink plenty of fluids during the cleanse, and be prepared to visit the bathroom often. The cleanse should take place during a fasting period in which you consume only fruits, vegetables, and juice.
• Caster Oil Dermal Packs
100% natural cold-pressed caster oil is applied in a manner to accomplish rapid absorption through the skin, bypassing the digestive system. This is begun by saturating a small piece of cloth with caster oil. Then the cloth is laid upon the bare skin from the navel area to the lower breast area; covering the entire stomach and abdomen. On top of the cloth a piece of plastic should be lain, and then on top of that should lay a hot water bottle. As much heat as-is tolerable should be used. Remain still for thirty minutes to allow for adequate absorption.
• Special Water
Drink plenty of fluids, but not the tap water. The water from the tap is full of chemicals and is slightly acidic. The changes in diet, and fluids, revolve in large part around making you body more alkaline. Disease and cancers find an alkaline body chemistry to be extremely hostile, and this is what we want. Of course, altering a body's PH is not a quick and easy task. If we can get your body to hold a PH of 8 for just a day, all cancer cells and practically all destructive bacteria in your body will die. You'll naturally find that you feel really good too. With a more natural and healthy diet, a body's natural state is alkaline, but because of toxins and additives, practically everyone has a acidic body chemistry (acidosis). Because of the body's resistance to change, and in particular rapid change, the acidity of your body will cause the changes in diet and water to be unpleasant in an exaggerated manner. Fruit juices are okay, even though they are acidic. The body undergoes a chemical reaction with natural (pure organic) juices which actually leaves the body more alkaline after digestion. Cancer cannot survive in a high oxygen environment. Cancer cells feed off of fermentation, and regular cells (including the immune system) feed off of oxygen.
• Vinegar / Soda / Peroxide Drink
Several times a day, drink the following tonic. Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass with 1/8 of a teaspoon of baking soda. Wait until the fizzing reaction completely stops. Then fill the remainder of the glass with regular water, or the juice of your choice. Finally add in about 5-10 drops of food-grade 3% hydrogen peroxide. Do not stir. Be careful to handle the peroxide gently, and replace the cap immediately. Hydrogen peroxide is merely oxygenated water, and it will return to being plain water if its oxygen is allowed to escape. This should give you more energy, and give you a slight boost to your overall health. No one seems to understand why, but there is almost something magical about apple cider vinegar. You must use the apple cider type -- not distilled vinegar. The soda will give you bi-carbonates, and make the drink non-acidic, and the peroxide will boost the oxygen in your blood.
• Limit Gluten (found in yeast, and carbohydrates)
"Over a 3-month period, on a gluten-free diet, the patient showed a marked clinical improvement accompanied by a progressive decrease in the need for thyroid and adrenal replacement therapies. After 6 months, the serum IgA antiendomysium antibody test (used to confirm celiac disease) became negative. After 12 months, a new jejunal biopsy showed complete mucosal recovery. (The jejunum is the middle third of the small intestine.) After 18 months on a gluten-free diet, the antithyroid antibodies titer decreased significantly, and thyroid substitutive therapy was discontinued. The authors proposed a link between autoimmune endocrine disease and celiac disease, noting that celiac disease is one of the causes for the failure of substitute hormonal therapy in patients with autoimmune thyroid disease."
-- Gebre-Medhin et al. 2000
• Diet
Follow the Budwig Diet. Eat no red meat whatsoever. If you need more iron, then take an iron supplement every other day (more if the deficiency is serious), but a better alternative would be to swallow a tablespoon of maple syrup. White meat is okay once or twice a day, and this includes fish. The fish must not be bottom feeders such as crab, shrimp, or lobster. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Try juicing, and see our forum for ideas. Milk should be avoided, but if it is necessary, then use organic whole milk (not homogenized). Avoid all artificial sweeteners (including aspartame and saccharin). Avoid hydrogenated oils. Avoid white (bleached) sugar and flour. Honey is a healthy substitute for sugar. Buy foods that are as pure and organic as you can get. Sodium (from sea salt) is important in your set of conditions, but potassium should be limited. Avoid high-potassium foods such as bananas, oranges, and tomatoes.

Readers may notice that we delved into veterinary medicine for information. This is because medical history is being so thoroughly rewritten that common conditions such as adrenal disease and cushing's syndrome supposedly "do not exist" anymore (wink). These things now only exist in the animal world, because animals may be cured.
Case Studies of Prostate Disease In Ferrets
From: http://bellflowervet.com/library.asp
Prostate disease occurs in a significant number of ferrets in the United States. It affects neutered ferrets over two years of age. The most common disorder seen is a cyst or abscess of the prostate. Cancer of the prostate has been reported in ferrets but it is rare, compared to other species, such as humans.
The cause of prostatic cysts and abscesses in the ferret is still under investigation. At the time of this writing all cases of ferrets with prostate disease reported in the United States and in our own personal clinical experience, also have adrenal disease. The hypothesis is that the diseased adrenal glands produce excessive amounts of hormones, primarily androgens, which affect the prostate tissue. Androgens are hormones that stimulate the production of male characteristics and are commonly known as male sex hormones. It is thought that androgens acting in excess stimulate prostatic tissue causing it to enlarge into cystic structures. Abscesses occur when the cyst becomes contaminated with bacteria possibly via the urethra. None of this has been conclusively proven, but at this time it is the generally accepted explanation for prostatic cysts and abscesses. Prostatic cysts and abscesses do not appear to be diseases of intact male ferrets.
There is such a poor blood supply to the prostate that it is difficult to get an adequate amount of antibiotic into the area to kill the organisms causing the infection.
Lysodren – This is an “anti-adrenal” drug that has been used for many years in humans, dogs and ferrets to try to combat adrenal hyperplasia (enlargement) and neoplasia (canceros a human drug used to stop the release of gonadotropin releasing hormones (GnRH). These hormones are produced in the pituitary gland, which is located at the base of the brain. The pituitary gland is vital part of the endocrine or hormone producing system in the body, which includes the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, reproductive organs and pancreas. All the organs in the endocrine system communicate through a wide variety of hormones. This is an intricate system that controls a number of vital functions in the body.
Lupron – Lupron is a human drug used to stop the release of gonadotropin releasing hormones (GnRH).

Addison's disease is a profound chronic adrenal failure caused by damage or disease of the adrenal gland, resulting in a deficiency of cortisol. This disease is sometimes called chronic adrenal insufficiency or hypocortisolism. The most important job of cortisol is to help the body respond to stress. Among its other vital tasks, cortisol is partly responsible for:
* Maintaining blood pressure and cardiovascular function Balancing
* the effects of insulin in breaking down sugar for energy Slowing
* the immune system's inflammatory response Regulating the
* metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats
Addison's disease is characterized by muscle weakness, reduced blood sugar, nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, and low blood pressure, which can impact the act of standing, causing dizziness or fainting. Skin changes also are common in Addison's disease, with areas of hyperpigmentation or dark tanning that are mostly visible on scars, skin folds, toes, lips, mucous membranes, and pressure points, such as the elbows, knees, and knuckles.
The overproduction of cortisol by the adrenal glands leads to Cushing's syndrome (Clayman 1989). Cushing's syndrome also results when glucocorticoid drug hormones (such as hydrocortisone, prednisone, methylprednisolone, or dexamethasone) are taken in excess for a prolonged period of time. These steroid hormones are often used to treat inflammatory-related illnesses such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and some allergies.
The overproduction of cortisol in the adrenal glands can happen in two ways. A pituitary tumor could be producing too much ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone, produced by the pituitary gland), stimulating the adrenals to grow and to produce too much cortisol, or a benign or malignant tumor outside the pituitary such as in the lung, thymus gland, pancreas, or other organs can produce too much ACTH. The pituitary form is classically called Cushing's disease.
Cushing's syndrome is characterized by central obesity; sparing of the arms and legs (thin extremities); a round, reddish moon face; buffalo hump; and a protuberant abdomen. Many people with Cushing's syndrome experience severe fatigue, weak muscles, ulcers, thin skin, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar. Irritability, anxiety, and depression are also very common. Women with Cushing's syndrome will usually have excess hair growth (hirsuitism) on their face, necks, chests, abdomens, and thighs. Their menstrual periods may become irregular or stop. Men may have decreased fertility and desire for sex.
Constant stress and poor nutrition can weaken the adrenal glands. When stress continues over prolonged periods of time, the adrenal glands can deplete the body's hormonal and energy reserves, and the glands may either shrink in size or hypertrophy (enlarge). The overproduction of adrenal hormones caused by prolonged stress can weaken the immune system and inhibit the production of white blood cells that protect the body against foreign invaders (in particular lymphocytes and lymph node function). Adrenal dysfunction can disrupt the body's blood sugar metabolism, causing weakness, fatigue, and a feeling of being run down. It can also interfere with normal sleep rhythms and produce a wakeful, unrelaxing sleep state, making a person feel worn out even after a full night's sleep.
From: http://tuberose.com/Adrenal_Glands.html
After mid-life (menopause in women), the adrenal glands gradually become the major source of the sex hormones circulating throughout the body in both men and women. These hormones have a host of physical, emotional and psychological effects, from the level of your sex drive to the tendency to gain weight. Even the propensity to develop certain kinds of diseases and your ability to respond to chronic illness is influenced significantly by the adrenal glands. The more chronic the illness, the more critical the adrenal response becomes. The worse the overload relative to the ability of the body to respond is, the worse the adrenal fatigue is. Each person has a different capacity to handle the total stress load, and the capacity of each person varies over time and events.
Adrenal fatigue, or hypoadrenia, has been one of the most prevalent, yet rarely diagnosed conditions for over fifty years. Adrenal fatigue affects millions of people around the world in many ways and for many reasons. Despite being described in medical texts back in the 1800s, and despite a development of an effective treatment back in the 1930s, most “conventional” physicians are unaware that this problem even exists!
With the body spilling large amounts of extracellular sodium and likewise retaining intercellular potassium, we can see how an osmotic differential could develop in the patient’s tissues. If the osmotic difference (created by the increased potassium seeking its intercellular position and the lowered extracellular sodium levels) is severe enough, the body will most often attempt to correct this osmotic imbalance by allowing extracellular fluid to enter the cells. (It is also possible that the body could kick the potassium out of the cell and into the extracellular fluids, and although this occasionally occurs, we rarely see signs of this in the blood potassium levels.) The body is trying to dilute the potassium in the cell with water, to bring the system into osmotic equilibrium. The cells take on water, and the patient has swelling.
Often, these patients are placed on a diuretic by an unenlightened physician whose only basis for this prescription is the patient’s symptoms. The diuretic in these patients rarely helps the condition and often aggravates the tendency toward dehydration. Further, many diuretics act as adrenal (aldosterone) inhibitors, adding even more stress to the adrenals and tending to make the patient worse in the long run.
When your aldosterone levels are low and you are dehydrated and sodium deficient, you may also crave potassium because your body is sending you the message that your cells are low on potassium as well as sodium and water. However, after consuming only a small amount of potassium containing foods or beverages (fruit, fruit juice, sodas and commercial electrolyte replacement drinks), you will probably feel worse because the potassium/sodium ration will be further disrupted.
What you really need in this situation is a combination of all three, water, salt and potassium in the right proportions. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to drink small repeated doses of water accompanied by a little food sprinkled with kelp powder. Kelp powder contains both potassium and sodium in an easily assimilated form. Depending upon taste and symptoms, extra salt can be added. Sea salt is a better choice than regular refined table salt, because it contains trace amounts of other minerals in addition to the sodium. Another choice is to drink a vegetable juice blend containing some celery and chard and diluted with purified water.
Usually, within 24-48 hours, your hydration and electrolyte balance will have stabilized enough that you can proceed to an adrenal-supporting diet. You must continue to be careful to drink salted water or vegetable juices 2-4 times during the day, varying the amount of salt according to your taste, and you should avoid potassium-containing foods in the morning when your coritsol and aldosterone levels are low. Never eat or drink electrolyte-depleting or diuretic foods and beverages such as alcohol and coffee, especially if you have been out in the sun or are otherwise dehydrated. One of the problems people with adrenal fatigue constantly deal with is a mild dehydration and sodium depletion.
When you are already low on body fluids and electrolytes, as you are in this situation, you should always add salt to your water. Do not drink soft drinks or electrolyte-rich sports drinks, like Gatorade, because they are high in potassium and low in sodium, the opposite of what someone with low coritsol levels who is dehydrated needs. Commercial electrolyte replacement drinks are designed for people who produce an excess of coritsol when exercising, not people who are low on coritsol and aldosterone. Instead, yo are much better off having a glass of water with ¼ - 1 teaspoon salt in it, or eating something salty with water to help replenish both sodium and fluid volumei fast, the body will call on the adrenals to produce glucocorticoids to maintain a level of blood glucose which is adequate for a normal level of activity. The glucocorticoids can elevate blood glucose by breaking down protein into carbohydrates through the process of gluconeogenesis. A person on a fast puts a great strain on his adrenals and if he is already hypoadrenic, or borderline hypoadrenic, he may suffer from many problems during the fast. Severely hypoadrenic persons should almost never be put on a total fast. If they must be fasted, it should be a raw fruit and vegetable juice diet, with the juice taken at frequent intervals. It is also best that they fast for only a day or two at a time.
To the body, hypoglycemia is a strong stressor, an emergency call to action that further drains already fatigued adrenals. People who treat their own hypoglycemia like the common example given above are on a constant roller-coaster ride throughout the day with their blood sugar erratically rising and then falling after each “sugar fix.” This throws not only coritsol and insulin levels into turmoil, but also the nervous system and the entire homeostasis of the body. Therefore, by the end of the day, the person may feel nearly exhausted without having done anything. It might take an entire evening or weekend to recover from this daily/weekly roller coaster ride. It has sometimes been characterized as driving with both the brakes and the accelerator pushed to the floor at the same time.
It’s been known for almost a century that people who suffer from low blood sugar frequently suffer from adrenal fatigue. It’s also been known that people who suffer from adrenal fatigue almost always have some form of irregular blood sugar pattern, of which hypoglycemia is the most common. With hypoglycemia there are usually cravings for sugar. There are real physiological reasons why these cravings exist.
When your adrenals are fatigued, their coritsol output is diminished and you have lower levels of circulating blood coritsol. With lowered blood coritsol, your liver has a more difficult time converting glycogen into glucose. Fats, proteins and carbohydrates, which normally can be converted into glucose, also cannot be as readily converted into glucose. These reserve energy pools controlled by coritsol are critical to achieving and maintaining normal blood sugar levels, especially during stress. Further complicating this matter is that during stress, insulin levels are increased because the demand for energy in the cells is greater. Insulin opens the cell wall membranes to take in more glucose in order to provide more energy to the cells. Without adequate coritsol levels to facilitate the conversion of glycogen, fats and proteins to new glucose supplies, this increased demand is difficult or impossible to meet. All this combines to produce low blood sugar.
People with adrenal fatigue are in a real bind because when they are under stress, demand for blood glucose increases, but their fatigued adrenals cannot produce enough coritsol to generate higher glucose levels from reserves. In the presence of increased insulin and decreased coritsol, blood sugar drops rapidly. When this happens at the same time as an increasing demand for glucose, the stage is set for tragedy. In a physical survival situation this might lead to death because response times slow down, thinking easily becomes confused, muscular strength is weakened, and other problems occur which render the individual too helpless to effectively defend themselves or escapeyccumulates in the adrenal glands and disrupts adrenal gland function.
Two primary nutrients for the adrenal glands are pantothenic acid and vitamin-C. A deficiency of pantothenic acid can lead to adrenal exhaustion (chronic fatigue) and ultimately to destruction of the adrenal glands. A deficiency of pantothenic acid also causes a progressive fall in the level of adrenal hormones produced. One of the largest tissue stores of vitamin-C is the adrenals; it is exceeded only by the level of vitamin-C in the pituitary. Physical and mental stress increases the excretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone. The increased adrenal activity, in turn, depletes both vitamin-C and pantothenic acid from the glands.
