Ingredients
- 2 cups apple juice
- 1⁄2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 pinches nutmeg
- 1⁄8 tsp. cloves
- 1⁄2 tsp. maple syrup
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a pan, and simmer for 5 minutes or until hot.
- Strain into cups.
Notes
This drink gives a relaxing and warming feeling. For a lack of a better way to describe this feelings: it's like being in front of a warm fire at Christmas. You'll know it when you feel it. This drink is a delicacy of the Southern United States that dates back to its Colonial Period. We recommend replacing the apple juice with the so-called "apple cider" that is sold in some retailers, which is merely a less-filtered apple juice. This is the superior and traditional way of making the drink. We cited regular apple juice in the ingredients because it is much easier to acquire.
