You should be afraid of us, according to the F.T.C.. Watch this video to see why.
It is obvious who is afraid, and they ought to be. My favorite part was when the narrator told us to be especially afraid of the word "Natural", because after all, chemicals and radiation are safe for the body. Then he tells us to ignore the testimonials of people who have experience with alternative medicines, because actually paying attention to the factual histories of previous trials is somehow unscientific. We have come to call this unique version of science, F.D.A. Science. With this type of science, facts are only facts when they are the right facts (wink) -- the ones good for business.
You may have noticed that this F.T.C. representative told us to be especially wary of all information found on the Internet, and this statement was not made haphazardly. You will coincidentally hear these same attacks against the Internet from established members of the other mass media outlets, as if they were afraid of something themselves. The Internet is indeed a huge threat to them, because it is the only mass media that they, and their corporate partners, cannot regulate (control). The Internet has made possible the free flow of information, open discussion, true peer-review, and it is truly the last frontier left for free speech. These things make the Internet a big problem for these people. Their business is threatened by our freedom.
Readers will probably find it interesting to learn that the most difficult part of our research is weeding out scams from legitimate natural cures. Alternative medicine has plenty of both, so we anticipate lots of work ahead. The motives of our opponents are not quite as pure.
